Pirate Pride

Platte County R-3 has much to be proud of this week and it is only Wednesday! I just couldn't help but post about some of the special students and activities. Today I was able to attend the Platte County High School "signing" party for three of our talented Lady Pirates. Each of these poised young women are signing letters of intent to play either soccer or volleyball at the college level. Good luck to Molley Scanlon, Ashley Smith, and Jamie Bundy. We are confident that each of you will continue to make Platte County proud!

Also of note, we have four Platte City Middle School students in Mrs. Miller's 8th grade communication arts class that have won honors in the Scholastic Art & Writing contest. This contest is the largest, oldest and most prestigious student scholarship recognition program in the United States. Most of the entries are from high school students so to have two gold key winners (highest award to Raegan Cross and Kacie Saxer-Taulbee), one silver (Emily Goering) and one honorable mention (Linda Sutton)among the list is incredible!

And finally, the students & families across the District opened their hearts and pocketbooks to help those suffering in Haiti. We took a truck load of "Kits for Kids" that included toothpaste, soap, and various other hygiene supplies today. Our donations will be combined with other kits given by students from throughout Missouri and sent to Haiti communities.

Now you can see why I am so proud to be a Pirate!
